Red onion

Step 1

Peel & thinly slice the red onions into rings.

Cornichons

Step 2

Thinly slice the pickles.

Ground beef

Step 3

Add the ground beef to a mixing bowl. Season generously with salt & pepper. Mix with your hands.

Step 4

Divide the meat into 2 even portions per serving & form balls using your hands.

Burger bun (brioche)
Olive oil

Step 5

Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the portioned meat & smash each portion into a flat patty using a spatula. Cook for 2-3 min on each side or until the meat is nicely browned.

Cheddar (slices)

Step 6

Then add a slice of cheddar on one of the patties. Cover it with the second patty & add the second slice of cheddar on top. Cover & cook for 1-2 minutes just until the cheese is melted.

Burger bun (brioche)
Butter (unsalted)

Step 7

Meanwhile, in a second hot pan, melt a dab of butter. Toast the cut-side of the burger buns for 15-30 seconds.

Dijon mustard
Iceberg lettuce

Step 8

Assemble the burger: spread ketchup & mustard on the bottom bun. Add the burger patties, sliced onion, pickles & lettuce. Enjoy!
