recipe

Milk (whole)

Step 1

Warm the milk in the microwave for 30 sec or in a small saucepan on the stove until the temp reaches 120°F.

Flour (all-purpose)
Sugar (granulated)
Instant yeast

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine 1/2 of the flour, sugar (1/4 cup for 12 donut serving), a pinch of salt & the instant yeast. Whisk it all together.

Vanilla extract
Egg
Butter (unsalted)

Step 3

Pour in the warm milk, vanilla extract, eggs & butter. Use an electric mixer to mix on high speed for 2 min. You can also whisk vigorously by hand for 5 min!

Step 4

Stir the rest of the flour, in small batches, until the dough holds together. On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough & knead it for 5-10 min until smooth! Add a drizzle of oil to a clean bowl. Add the dough & cover with plastic wrap. Rest for 45 min, or until it's double in size. Meanwhile, line a sheet tray with parchment paper.

Step 5

On a lightly dusted surface, roll out the dough to 1/2 an inch thickness. Use a small round cookie cutter or a cup to cut circles. Re-roll the scraps & cut the remaining dough. Add the donuts to the lined-sheet tray. Cover with a towel & rest for 30 min.

Strawberry Jelly

Step 6

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F & transfer the strawberry jelly to a plastic ziplock or piping bag.

Step 7

When the donuts have puffed up, bake them in the oven for 10-12 min. While the donuts bake, melt 1-2 tbsp of butter & add the remaining sugar to a large bowl.

Step 8

Remove the donuts from the oven. Once cool enough to handle, use a knife to carefully poke a hole into the side of each donut. Snip off a tiny corner piece of jelly-filled bag. Squeeze jelly into each donut. Brush each filled donut with melted butter.

Step 9

Immediately toss the buttered donuts in the remaining cup of sugar to coat. Serve & enjoy!
